Guests entering residential treatment at Pearl of the Sea Retreat shall be in a stabilized state. Most individuals enter the residential level of care upon completion of the inpatient detoxification program; however, some individuals may forgo higher levels of care and enter directly into residential care. All guests shall be evaluated for an in-depth mental health assessment, and training shall be provided to all individuals to assist them in managing symptoms of their disorders. Before treatment services begin, the staff will conduct an intake evaluation, which they will use to develop an individualized treatment plan based on the person’s addiction and mental health condition.
Psychiatric services and management of psychotropic medications are available for guests with co-occurring mental health issues Medications are administered daily as scheduled by the nursing staff. When used in conjunction with behavioral therapy or psychotherapies, medication can help to promote abstinent behaviors by decreasing cravings, blocking the rewarding effects of alcohol or certain drugs, and managing protracted withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety, dysphoria, and insomnia.
Clinical interventions available include individual, couple, and family psychotherapy, group therapy, psycho-educational services, and 24/7 crisis management services. Pearl of the Sea Retreat offers holistic treatment options, such as yoga, meditation, nutrition, physical fitness, and art and music therapy as well as traditional therapies such as CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness. Additional special issues or expressive therapies shall be offered and shall have a specific function within a given guest’s treatment plan if clinically indicated. Guests meet with a therapist 1:1 one time per week to work on their individual needs as outlined in their treatment plan.
All treatment plans are individualized and focus on acute stabilization and transition to community outpatient treatment and support groups as needed. Treatment teams prepare a person for discharge by creating an aftercare plan, which consists of relapse prevention tactics, such as support groups, 12-step programs, sober living homes, or group or individual counseling. The treatment team offers coordination with collateral contacts and care management/discharge planning services, which occurs regularly throughout the treatment and on an as-needed basis. Active family/natural supports involvement is important unless contraindicated.
Upon completion of residential care, guests can step-down into lower levels of care such as the Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program, or Outpatient treatment.
